Description
91 cm. The cormorant has a characteristic hooked bill and flat forehead. Its plumage is blackish, glossed with blue and bronze. It has a bold white throat, yellow near bill, and patches on its thighs. It has long and broad tail. In Hungary it is fairly common and increasing breeder with the largest colony at Kis-Balaton. Other colonies along the Danube, River Tisza and River Dráva. Occurs throughout the country, mainly at fishponds. In Hungary most birds are migrant, however now winters in increasing numbers on the Danube.

Seeshores, sheltered estuaries, inland on lakes, rivers, marshlands
