Description
53-65 cm. Looks like a small White-fronted Goose, but its bill is more vivid pink, and its white front patch reaches its top of head. Its plumage is darker than of the White-fronted Goose. It has yellow eye-ring. In Hungary the Hortobágy is a traditional staging ground of the species, and individuals pass through annually predominantly in autumn, but also in the spring. Individuals or small flocks show up occasionally at Biharugra, Kardoskút, Lake Fehér at Szeged and on the alkali lakes of the Kiskunság. Ascarce vagrant in Transdanubia.

Habitat
Winters on wet pastures, coastal marshes and estuaries, breeds on northern bogs and tundra
