29 Karancs–Medves

Description

A range of low volcanic mountains situated at the Northern part of Nógrád, near to the Slovakian border. The area is covered by mixed oak forests Quercetum petraeae-cerris, Quercus-Carpinus as well as submontane Fagus forests. The habitat is characterised by steep and deep stream valleys and canyons. Human activities include sylviculture, tourism and hunting.
