Description
35cm. The Teal is the smallest European duck. It has exquisitely barred grey body, chestnut-coloured head with cream-edged green band. On its wing it has a narrow, horizontal white band and a characteristic green patch. In Hungary the Teal occurs in huge flocks on passage in autumn and spring but also common as a winter visitor, mostly on lakes but also on rivers in smaller numbers. A few individuals oversummer.

Habitat
Freshwater marshes, boggy heathlands, estuaries
