Swallow (Hirundo rustica)

19 cm. The Swallow has long wings, long tail streamers and very deeply forked tail. Its upperpart is bluish black, underpart is off-white and there are white spots on underside of the fork-tail. Its face is red-brown and the upper part of its chest is bluish black, which make it very easy to identify. Its flight is very fast and agile with frequent swoops and glides upon feeding flying insects like flies, bees, mayflies, flying ants.

Habitat

fairly common in Hungary on open rural countryside, farms, stalls. Migrant.
