Bird of the month 08/2006 Jackdaw (Corvus monedula) 30-34 cm. A small crow, with greyish hindneck and darker forehead, underbody and back. Its bill is more narrow than the bill of Rook or Hooded Crow. In flight its wings are longer and more narrow. When walk, it is so „high-stepping”. Its call is a strong „chjak”. Sometimes they babble quietly sitting next to each other. Habitat Rather common in Hungary in towns and villages, they often breed in chimneys. It can be very friendly among people.
