Bird of the month 11/2006 Marsh Tit (Parus palustris) 11 cm. The Marsh Tit is a plain brownish tit with a sleek black cap and pale cheeks. Its chin and upper throat are black, the feathers of the latter edged with white. The absence of the nape spot distinguishes it at once from the Coal Tit. Its upperpart is sandy brown and its rump is darker brown. The underparts are grayish white. The Marsh Tit’s wings and tail are grayish. The bill is black, the legs are lead-coloured.
