Nuthatch (Sitta europeae)

14cm. The Nuthatch has a bluish-grey upperside and buff underside, with rufous flanks. It has white throat and ear coverts, with a striking black eye-stripe that is elonged by the straight shape of the beak. The Nuthatch has a long black-pointed bill, a relatively large head and short neck, short stiff tail, rounded wing at the end and short, strong legs.

Habitat

The Nuthatch is quite common in Hungary in deciduous woodlands, mature woods and in large parks with old trees. Rarely nests in conifer woods. Resident in Hungary.
