53-57 cm. Rather large duck, with red bill, orange head, black breast, brown back, and white side. Females (on picture) are mainly brown coloured, with dark cap, pale face, and dark bill with a reddish spot on it.

Habitat
Resident breeder in small, but increasing numbers, mainly in Western-Hungary. Breeds on fishponds, lakes, marshes.
