11 Bükk Mountains
Description
A mountain range between Eger and Miskolc, with deep valleys and a wide plateau. Deciduous oak Quercus forests exist between 200 m and 600 m, with submontane forests of Quercus, Carpinus and Fagus above 700 m. Oak forest, scrub and rocky grassland on the southern slopes experience a more continental micro-climate. Human activities include intensive forest management and hunting.
